Firm Focus and History
I began practice in 1983 and represented my first Social Security client in 1984. For several years I was engaged in the general practice of law including a variety of areas. By 1995 my practice had evolved to the point that I began exclusively representing Social Security clients.
Previous Employment Summary
I have been a solo practitioner for the past 23 years.
Activities and Awards
Several times a year I provide on-site in-service training on Social Security Law to healthcare facilities and social service agencies and organizations.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
This can be helpful to the client and assist them in understanding the process within which they are involved.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
On occasion I am asked to review Social Security applications and related documents. I am amenable to doing so.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I have provided assistance and advice to individuals representing themselves. I am willing to do so, but it depends on the nature of the client and the complexity of the issue.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I wanted a challenge in a field where I could help people solve problems in their lives.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Early in my career I worked as an Attorney at a state hospital for the mentally ill. This helped me understand how devastating serious health problems can be to people.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
My specialty evolved over the years as I represented people with disabilities. These people are often the least able to help themselves and deserve representation and advocacy of their rights.
What do you like best about your career?
Successfully helping a disabled person obtain the benefits they need and deserve.
