Papers and Publications
I have written and published two legal guides for Avvo.com - How to Handle your First Criminal Charge in Washington; How to find a DUI Attorney for Your Case in Washington State. I maintain active blogs on my websites at www.snocodui.com and www.dichterlawoffice.com.
Example Cases
DUI: Arlington - My client had driven off the road, over an "in memory of" DUI road sign, and crashed into a telephone pole. After investigation, his BAC was well above .15. At motions, I was able to get the case dismissed by arguing successfully that the officer lacked probable cause to believe my client had been under the influence.
Felony Harassment and Assault DV: Everett - My client's ex wife testified for two days about 30 years of alleged abuse. At the conclusion of the trial, I argued successfully that her testimony lacked credibility, and convinced the jury to find my client not-guilty.

Firm Focus and History
Excellence, Experience, Empathy and Enthusiasm. Every aspect of our firm focuses on these core concepts. We strive to provide the highest quality representation for individuals charged with DUI and related offenses, as well as domestic violence, other minor traffic offenses, major felonies, and all areas of criminal law in general.
Although I've been working as an attorney at other firms for years, this firm opened on August 1, 2009. I enjoy the ability to practice law on my own terms, focusing on quality representation, empathy, and superb customer service.
Previous Employment Summary
I started my career as an intern doing public defense. Upon being admitted to the bar, I was the public defender in the City of Shoreline for approximately two years. I moved from there to a well known private firm in the Snohomish County area where I have been practicing for the last 4 years, before opening my own firm to practice law on my terms.
Activities and Awards
I am on the list of Pro Tem judges for three local district courts and one municipal court. Additionally, I contribute to answering free legal questions online at Avvo.com, I have done speaking engagements for local agencies, and I participate in the various professional organizations I am a part of. I am rated 10 out of 10 by Avvo.com.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
An informed client is one who can better participate in their defense. The danger, however, is when a client relies on the advice of non-lawyers or non-verified websites to try to solve problems themselves. We work hard to make sure our clients have all the information they need and want to best understand their case and the legal system.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am always willing to take a look at something a client has drafted for their defense. That being said, I would always prefer that the client work with his attorney and let his attorney do the bulk of the legal work. The reason you hire an attorney is so that they do the work for you, as they have the experience and knowledge.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Although a general rule of thumb in criminal matters is that clients should NOT represent themselves for any reason, if the situation arose where a defendant was adamant about representing himself, and a court appointed me as standby counsel, I would be happy to assist.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I always had a strong desire to help people, and started my educational career by being accepted to medical school. However, I soon learned that it was not the right path for me personally. I had always been involved in debate and student government, and so began studying law. I enjoyed my studies, and chose to go to law school. While in law school, I found a passion and talent for representing those accused of crimes and practicing criminal defense law.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I believe all of my life experiences have brought me to the point of being a better advocate, but certain specific experiences have aided me along the way. Most notably, my experiences as both public defender and private defense attorney have helped me hone my legal skills. My background in public speaking and performance have aided me numerous times in trial preparation. My previous college job doing telephone technical support for an internet company helped me appreciate how necessary customer care is. And finally, my frequent work mentoring 8th graders and teaching in a Sunday School context allow me to see a variety of sides to every issue.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
While spending my first summer internship at a small firm in Oklahoma, I was given a criminal case to work on. This was an appeal of a municipal ordinance violation. It was not a high stakes case, but the facts of the case were such that I very much wanted to see justice done and my client's record cleared. I found myself driven by the energy of defending the accused and easily understanding the area of law and the philosophy behind defense. I've dedicated my entire career to defending those that are accused as a result.
What do you like best about your career?
I enjoy having the ability to help people understand their mistakes and put them in the past. I truly believe that defense attorneys exist to keep the government honest and following the rules. Furthermore, there's nothing I enjoy more than a good trial!
Tell us about your law firm:
Because I'm a solo practitioner, I am thrilled that I get to have personal contact with every one of my clients. However, I also have a very talented support staff who help me be as attentive as possible to all of my client's needs. We strive to be as communicative and compassionate as we can be while working on getting our clients the best possible results for their cases.
What are your strengths and style?
Our office is friendly and non-judgmental. We work together with our clients, prosecutors and judges to collaborate on the best results for a case. However, when collaboration fails, we are aggressive, relentless, and detail oriented. We leave no stone unturned in order to attempt to get our clients the results they want.
Personal Interests:
I enjoy reading fiction, mentoring, sleight-of-hand, competing in half-marathons, raising money for good causes (Make-A-Wish), movies, and theatre.
