• High school student, avid sportsman, and hunter suffered serious skull, eye, and facial trauma when his rifle improperly fired as the result of a defectively manufactured firearm. Confidential settlement.
• Decorated World War II Veteran failed to receive proper medical treatment from his VA medical care providers. Served as co-counsel in the trial of case wherein United States Federal District Court specifically found that the United States Veterans Administration was negligent and failed to care for its own veteran according to its own motto "to care for him who shall have borne the battle." Ducker v. U.S.A., USDC Case 1:99-cv-082 Eastern District of Tennessee

Workers' Comp:
• Construction worker suffered fall from roof that resulted in paraplegia. Lifetime medical benefits obtained by court order included attendant in-home nursing care to be provided by spouse and compensated by insurance carrier. Court order obtained also provided funding for the construction of handicapped modified and accessible home for injured worker.

Disability:
• An individual became disabled from a progressive and debilitating illness that resulted in loss of job and health insurance. The individual was later cut from the state Medicaid rolls as a victim of one of the largest reductions in Medicaid benefits ever by a state government. My office became involved and successfully assisted the client in obtaining disability benefits that allowed the individual to regain access to healthcare and treatment for a serious life altering illness.

Firm Focus and History

I am a practicing trial lawyer who uses my legal training and experience to help individuals and families cope with and recover from the hardships brought on by disability, injury, and financial difficulties. My practice concentrates primarily in the areas of Personal Injury, Workers' Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Consumer Debt Relief/Bankruptcy.

The firm was founded January 1, 2001 as a solo practice.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to 2001, I was a partner for three years in a middle Tennessee law firm engaged in the general practice of law.

Activities and Awards

I am a Life Member of the Auburn Alumni Association of Auburn University. I was named Who's Who in America 2001. I was honored as the 2002 Alexandria Schools Alumnus of the Year for my former high school in Alexandria, Alabama. I have also served as a founding board member of United Way of Franklin County, TN.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage my clients to educate themselves as citizens and consumers on issues that will protect them and their families from harmful actions of individuals and bad business practices of insurance companies and corporations.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Not applicable in my areas of practice, trial work, and litigation.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Not applicable in my areas of practice, trial work, and litigation.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I grew up in a family where my father practiced law for over 25 years before becoming a state court judge in addition to having other family members involved in either the practice of law or medicine. My personal goal was to help individuals who needed assistance during a time of crisis or personal loss. I felt that law provided me the best opportunity to help those in need.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I saw firsthand, at an early age, that law can be used as a tool to level an uneven playing field for the powerless, give hope to the disabled, and help rebuild a broken and shattered life.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

In the specific areas I focus my practice on, I have an opportunity to help individuals, who have been injured through no fault of their own, navigate the often confusing legal system to help my clients recoup some financial independence and quality of life. I find this very rewarding.

What do you like best about your career?

The challenges of representing individuals that need help with life altering circumstances and the satisfaction of being able to achieve a positive outcome for those that need help the most.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner; therefore, I work directly with all of my clients. I also have two dedicated legal assistants who each have specific knowledge and experience that aid them in assisting our clients with competence, sensitivity and dignity.

What are your strengths and style?

I aggressively pursue a positive outcome for my clients. Being accessible to all my clients allows me to give every client the personal attention their case deserves.

Personal Interests:

I am an avid reader and keep up to date on the latest legal trends and developments. When I am out of the office, I enjoy outdoor activities and following college football.
