I chose family law because family law requires an attorney to have a very broad knowledge and understanding of different areas of the law and business as well as human nature. My life experiences and educational background make me well suited to family law.
I thing that it is very important for clients to educate themselves. It is their case or problem and they need to understand how the law is going to affect them. By the same token, clients need to remember that they are hiring an attorney because of the attorney's skill, knowledge, and wisdom.

I do not review documents prepared by clients.
No. The learning curve is simply too great. For a client to try to represent himself or herself is like a lay person doing an appendectomy--the first 15 times your try it the patient will die.
After graduating with a BBA and MBA with majors in finance and accounting, I joined Shell Oil Company and then the old Gulf Oil Company (now Chevron), doing complex business valuations and financial analysis. I gained a wealth of experience in understanding complex problems, developing strategies for solving problems, and presenting those strategies to top management, and then following through on implementing the solutions.
While working with the oil companies I started night law school and fell in love with the law. I started practicing law in 1973 and have handled virtually every variety of problems over the years. I have probably tried 50 plus jury trial, more than 500 trials to the court, and 25 appeals. I have been able to use my skills, wisdom and experience to successfully settle many cases.
My educational background, prior work experience, 34 years of practicing law, Board Certification, continuing education and growth make me a very effective advocate for my clients.
My unique strength is my ability to analyze situations and find outcomes that focus on my client's objectives. My style is hands-on personal involvement with each and every case my office handles.
Personal interests:My personal life is very rewarding and varied. I love spending time raising my children. I have an old Rolls Royce and have been active with the Rolls Royce Owners Club. I have served on the West University City Council. I have also served as an Elder in my church. I love travel, boating and scuba.
