Firm Overview

I dedicate all of my time to the representation of seriously injured persons. I handle all types of personal injury and medical malpractice cases, including many types of birth injury cases involving cerebral palsy and Erb's Palsy.

From 1996 until 2010, I practiced law at Powers & Santola, LLP, where I was a partner for 11 years. In July 2010, I returned to my hometown of Kingston, New York, where I joined Mainetti, Mainetti & O'Connor.

Example cases

Scarborough v. Napoli, Kaiser & Berne in Oswego, New York:

I recovered $1 million for a client in a legal malpractice case against a prominent NYC law firm. The claims in the lawsuit involved the alleged deceit and fraud committed by the NYC law firm in its attempt to conceal its malpractice from the client.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

In 1993, I represented the victim of a bus accident who was severely brain damaged. From that point on, there was no other area of law that I wanted to practice.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

An informed, educated client is an ideal client. I keep clients informed by sending them copies of all letters, motions, pleadings and discovery responses.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am always willing to review legal documents prepared by clients if they want to proceed pro se in a law suit.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to give advice to clients who represent themselves, but the best advice for such clients is to retain a lawyer.

• Partner - Powers & Santola, LLP — December 1996 — July 2010

My best life experience is being the father of three beautiful children.

I focus all of my energy and commitment to less than twelve cases of substantial and catastrophic injuries at a time. By working on a limited number of cases, I can get the best results.

I love waterskiing, and barefooting. I am an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame.
