What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
An informed and involved client is the best ally to the achievement of success of that client's goals. My clients will not only know what they need to do, but why they need to do it.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am willing to consult with a client in special circumstances.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I am willing to coach a client in special circumstances.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
My own parents were embroiled in over 4 years of divorce and custody litigation when I was a child. As an adult, and in my experience as a family law attorney, I am convinced you can win with integrity without sacrificing the needs and/or best interests of the children. I encourage clients to adopt a "high road" mentality for two principal reasons: First, so they will have no regrets once the case is concluded, and second, so they will have no reason to explain away their own behavior to their children once they start asking questions as adults, as I did.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I have a unique background and approach to the practice of family law that works for my clients, which is born out of the knowledge and skill attained over more than a decade of trying and resolving very complex divorce and custody cases.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
My own experiences make me uniquely tailored for divorce and family law practice. I see it as an opportunity to put all of the lessons I have learned in my life to the ultimate test for the benefit of my clients and their children.
What do you like best about your career?
In this profession, I have a unique opportunity to take the lessons learned in my own life to help clients navigate through one of the most painful periods in their lives without sacrificing their own integrity or the best interests of the children.
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me. In some cases, I have to coordinate a forensic team. However, that team reports directly to me with my client having ultimate control, involvement, and power over what decisions are made.
What are your strengths and style?
My strengths are my ability to see beyond the typical blueprint the law provides and to focus on the needs of the children and the clients. I believe there are no "no-win" scenarios; there are always choices that will ultimately benefit the children.
