Before working at UC Berkeley, I was the Business Manager/Controller at the Pacific School of Religion, in Berkeley, California, with overall responsibility for the business functions of the school.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Having an educated client assists greatly in Estate Planning matters, as the persons know the general principals and objectives involved in crafting an Estate Plan that would help their situation.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am willing to review documents, but have had situations where the client did not have specialized knowledge and therefore did not understand why the language used did not meet their particular needs.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I am willing to help my clients obtain their objectives.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I enjoy meeting people and helping them obtain their objectives in their Estate Plans--provide for their spouse, children, family, or charities.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I have seen problems caused by no or inadequate Estate Plans, including estrangement or the wrong individuals inheriting, unintentional omissions of important friends and relatives, etc... My goal is to prevent problems, and to make sure my client's objectives are met.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I chose this area of practice after observing problems caused by intestate succession and lengthy, expensive and acrimonious probate proceedings in my own family.
What do you like best about your career?
I enjoy meeting new people, learning about their situations and helping them to have peace of mind concerning possible periods of incapacity in their own life, and provision for their loved ones or charities after they pass on.
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a sole practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me.
What are your strengths and style?
I am patient and listen to my clients, and I am willing to work hard to help them achieve their objectives. I am compassionate and efficient, and have high ethical standards. I have numerous very favorable ratings on Berkeley Parents Network, AVVO, Thumbtack and a few on Yelp.
Personal Interests:
I enjoy ceramics, crafts, reading, and volunteer in the local public schools (Joaquin Miller Elementary, Montera Middle School--Friends of Montera Woodshop--and Skyline High School), and First Presbyterian Church in Berkeley.
