Firm Focus and History
I opened up my law firm shortly after being admitted to the bar. My focus is on helping consumers get free from their debts.
Previous Employment Summary
As an attorney, I started out doing court appearances for other bankruptcy attorneys. This gave me very useful and practical experience.
Activities and Awards
2004 President's Award for Pro Bono, California State Bar.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
The more education the client has, the better. Knowledge is power!
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am willing to review all documents prepared by my clients and I urge them to produce as much information as possible to help their cases move forward.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Due to liability insurance constraints, I am unable to offer this service.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I wanted to help people. I had initially been interested in a career in social work, but applied to law school when the dean of the law school I attended (UCLA) encouraged me to apply.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
My background in food service and catering has given me humility and real world experience. I do not practice law in an ivory tower.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I did an internship for a bankruptcy Judge, Calvin Ashland. I was so impressed by how well he treated the debtors--with kindness and respect. I knew I wanted to be just like him, so I decided immediately that I would practice bankruptcy law.
What do you like best about your career?
I get to meet, and help, a variety of interesting people. I also get to bring my dog to work!
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me.
What are your strengths and style?
I am very honest. Sometimes, I tell people what they need to hear, but do not want to hear. I don't sugarcoat information in order to convince people to hire me. If I take your case, I will do everything possible to help you get debt-free!
Personal Interests:
My husband and I have two small children. As a family we love to hike, garden, and visit our elderly friends in hospital and rest homes. We are also very dedicated to our dog, a rescued miniature pinscher. We are a very happy family!
