People vs. Phillip Simpson
Client was charged with violently assaulting his girlfriend. He was facing up to four years in state prison. After a week at jury trial before the Honorable Betty Dawsom, the jury found Mr. Simpson "not guilty." Mr. Simpson was released immediately.
People vs. Carlos Lopez
Client was charged with 15 counts of violent sexual assault on three women. He was facing 200 years in state prison. After three weeks at jury trial before the Honorable Brian McCabe, the jury hung on all counts. Mr. Lopez was released after two years.
People vs. Michael Bonilla
Client was charged with violent assault and gang enhancements. He was facing 12 years in state prison. After two weeks at jury trial before the Honorable Harry Jacobs, the jury found Mr. Bonilla "not guilty" on the most serious felonies. Mr. Bonilla was released shortly after the trial.
People vs. Avtar Shokar
Client was charged with violently assaulting another person with a deadly weapon and threatening great bodily injury. He was facing two strikes and several years in prison. After a thorough investigation by our office, we were able to show the District Attorney that the "victim" had made it up and lied to the police. The case was dismissed.
