How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I felt that I had the temperament to navigate through highly emotional issues directly with clients and the ability to negotiate a fair and amicable resolution. However, I also possess the wherewithal to take a case to trial if a settlement cannot be reached. This area of law requires expertise in so many facets of the law.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

An educated client is important in this area of law as they must participate in all aspects of their own litigation as opposed to other areas where the majority of work involves attorneys.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I often use client prepared documents to assist in motion writing and in settlement letters.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Other than no asset, no children uncontested divorces, clients should not represent themselves.

• Rivkin Radler, LLP

I spent the first 13 years of my adult life in business. As such, I gained invaluable insight into negotiations and sophistication for complex financial issues. Right before becoming a lawyer, I worked for a major financial company setting up retirement plans, life insurance programs and health insurance plans. These issues are also all relevant in matrimonial practice.

I am frequently told that I have a very even disposition which makes me very easy to deal with. However, I am confident and never lose sight of the objective. I am never fearful of having to try a case but always look to settle.

Personal interests:

I am a family man who loves to travel. I like football, baseball and, when I get the opportunity, golf.
