What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
A well-educated client is my favorite type of client because they understand their case.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I do not file documents prepared by my clients. However, I encourage my clients to assist me in preparing their case.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I do not believe anyone should represent themselves in criminal court.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I planned to become a lawyer from the time that I was a young boy. I went directly to law school after college, and I became a prosecutor immediately after law school. I enjoy helping people through a difficult period in their lives.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Having worked with nearly a thousand clients during the past fifteen years has helped me to know how to relieve the stress for people during the time their cases is pending. Also, having tried over fifty jury trials in my career has made me very comfortable in taking a case to trial.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I enjoy the people in the criminal justice system and the clients. Helping people accused of crimes is very professionally satisfying.
What do you like best about your career?
The stories I hear.
