How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Without a level playing field in the workplace, no other civil rights can be achieved. In our society we are taught from our earliest years that hard work will bring us prosperity and success. It is difficult enough to survive in this world toiling 40+ hours a week in jobs which may or may not be personally rewarding. To have our performance tainted, blocked, inhibited, or in any way harmed by someone else's discriminatory conduct is abhorrent. The only way the true vision of civil rights movements will ever be fully realized is when the workplace is free from discrimination and harassment, and everyone has the opportunity to make their own way, to put food on the table for their family, and to reap the benefits of their own labor.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Everyone needs a basic, working knowledge of individual rights under the law. People seek me out when they believe that those rights have been violated.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am amenable to reviewing all documents prepared by clients.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am willing to advise and counsel clients behind the scenes in their efforts to negotiate a favorable departure from employment, or in severance negotiations. However, I am not willing to coach a client who wishes to represent themselves in litigation or in court in any capacity.

Habib Hasbini

During my previous employment and labor law clerkships, I worked on a wide array of employment and labor law matters. Including unlawful discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistle blowing, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, overtime, meal and rest periods. My clerkships involved employment law matters in an individual as well as class action capacity. During my clerkships, I successfully opposed motions for summary judgment and wide variety of pre-trial motions, including demurrers, motions to strike, motions to quash, and motions for protective order. Further, I participated in a number of mediations and settlement conferences. I drafted interrogatories, discovery responses, meet and confer letters, motions to compel discovery, and helped secure default judgments.

My parents gave my brother and me their adamant belief in the dignity and equality of all people. My life experience taught me to believe in equality and fairness amongst people in society. My belief in a discrimination-free society compel me to hone my skills to better serve the goal of ensuring the fundamental right to employment free of discrimination and harassment. Regular interaction with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and mediators has provided me with the opportunity to do this while dealing with diverse employment law issues.

Among my strengths, I would list my skills in writing and speaking, logic, tenacity, and belief in the importance of individual rights. I fight with all my heart and mind for my clients. I specialize in labor and employment law. I love helping my clients and making a difference in their lives.
