I have been working on my own after having my family, in order to secure the proper balance between career and home requirements.

Example cases

A young couple with no children, but sizeable assets, needed to distribute their assets among four brothers of the husband and cousins of the wife who acted as her brothers and sisters. Each heir had different family sizes and unique stature to this young couple.

Another client example is an elderly couple who had been married 20 years after each being widowed. Each child from previous marriages had different ideas about how the assets of the couple should be distributed.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

As a real estate lawyer, I focused on the completion of the deal. My focus on estate planning and personal finance allows me to use my gifts to help people with very important issues which are often emotionally difficult.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is always helpful for clients to educate themselves about their legal matter in order to have the necessary background in their area of concern. I provide an educational pamphlet and a personal approach that will assist my clients in the process.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

It depends on the document. While this may be acceptable for simple documents, it is often more cost-effective for me to do the drafting. My fees take into account client participation in the drafting process.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

This is not relevant to my practice.

Grace St. Clair

I was trained as an associate in the Bankruptcy and Real Estate Departments of O'Melveny & Myers in the downtown office. I also worked in the General Counsel's office of a major pharmaceutical distribution company. Before attending law school, I managed the Legal Department of a financial investing company and worked as a tax paralegal at O'Melveny & Myers.

I acted as a client first when I managed the Legal Department of a financial investing firm. My experience sitting as both a client and a lawyer gives me a unique sensitivity to the needs of my clients.

My strength is working with people to bring about the desired result while making the process easy to understand and complete.

I am personable, approachable and caring.

Personal interests:

I paint children's murals, play piano, enjoy tennis and the beach, and love playing with my family.
