Previous Employment Summary
My past experiences have led me to Thompson Law Office where I utilize my trial and litigation experience to the fullest.
Activities and Awards
I served as Chair of the Nebraska Real Estate & Practice Guidelines Committee in 2008 and 2009, and am currently a member of the Nebraska State Bar Association House of Delegates for 2010-2014. In addition, I am a graduate of the Nebraska State Bar Association's Leadership Academy.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I believe an educated, well-informed client is one who can better understand and appreciate the value that an experienced attorney can provide.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients and to provide suggestions for improvements to those documents.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I am happy to advise clients when it is in their best interest and economical for them to represent themselves in small claims court.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
There are many reasons I became a lawyer. The two main reasons are a result of my experience of helping draft state legislation during my term as a legislative aide for a State Senator and the fact that lawyers are looked upon by people and businesses to solve problems that they encounter and to guide them through the legal process brought about by litigation.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Before attending law school I served as a legislative aide for a Nebraska State Senator for two legislative sessions. As a legislative aide I helped draft proposed legislation and work with interest groups to bring the proposed legislation into law. My term as a Lieutenant in the Nebraska Army National Guard has provided me with the skills to quickly size up a situation and then select and implement a strategy under pressure.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I enjoy assisting entrepreneurs with forming a new business or helping existing business owners with the ongoing operation of their business.
What do you like best about your career?
I enjoy helping people and businesses pursue and realize their objectives and protect those objectives once they are achieved.
