We offer flat rates for the preparation of Judicial Counsel forms, and for certain uncontested cases. Please inquire with us to discuss this service.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
My parents divorced when I was quite young, and the custody battles were relentless. I worked through the issues that manifested from that experience, and as a result I have an immense amount of perspective into what families go through during divorce. This is why I focus my efforts on resolving disputes quickly and efficiently whenever possible - it's simply best for families.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Educated clients are our best clients. We encourage our client to learn everything they can about their cases and the law, and to be as proactive as possible.
Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Very willing. We are happy to help clients reduce costs in any way possible.
Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Very willing. We find that clients who are willing to help themselves often get the best results for their families. This is not always practical, but when self representation is a good option, we will do what we can to support.
Erik Newton
I work in the areas of premarital agreement, child custody, and complex asset division. My practice is rated highly by clients for handling cases efficiently and with discretion, minimizing costs and disruption. I serve on various advisory boards, including the board of California Common Sense and the board of The Journal of Law, Economics & Policy, an academic journal I founded. While serving on Attorney General Kamala Harrisâ transition team, I helped craft state education policy. I frequently volunteer my time as a mentor and advisory board member with the Spark Program, a Bay Area youth mentorship program. I hold a a J.D. from GMU School of Law. Prior to practicing law, I ran several successful businesses. I regularly lectures to diverse groups on the topics of marriage planning and asset protection.
Our primary focus is to create structured settlements for complex cases. We are extraordinary negotiators because we are excellent litigators. Every offer we make is backed up with solid research the know-how to get a deal done.
Personal interests:I am very involved in education reform on a state and national level. I recently served on Attorney General Kamala Harris' transition team on the education committee. I also volunteer at local schools in my area and mentor at-risk 7th and 8th graders. On a more personal note, I am an avid swing-dancer and runner, and I enjoy hosting large academic gatherings.

Terrance C. Heath
Prior to establishing his law practice in 2002, Terrance managed production of research products for VentureOne Corp. (a San Francisco-based investment research firm), served as a small-business development volunteer for Peace Corps in Romania, and supervised attorneys for Hall Dickler (Romania) SRL, a US-based law firm in Bucharest. Terrance also worked with NASD Dispute Resolution, Inc. as an attorney managing arbitrations and mediations.
Terrance holds degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and Boston College Law School. Active in his community, he received the Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award from the Bar Association of San Francisco, has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco since 2009 and the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom (BALIF). Terrance resides in San Francisco with his two children and their three goldfish.

Beth Richardson
A Michigan native, Beth received her Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. Prior to joining Heath-Newton, LLP, Beth practiced family law at Winter & Ross, Attorneys at Law for four years.
A strong advocate for children and families and helping them through the emotionally arduous journeys often associated with family law, Beth has experience with Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Mateo, and San Francisco County family law courts. While attending law school, Beth was a certified Law Clerk with the Alameda County Department of Child Support Services. She currently sits on the Board of Good Samaritan Family Resource Center and acts as co-chair of the organizationâs Development Committee.
