Edwin "Sandy" Hardy has practiced Bankruptcy law and debt defense for debtors in eastern North Carolina for 23 years. He has successfully filed several thousand bankruptcies and defended numerous individuals, corporations and businesses being sued for debt(s). He was born and raised here. He is a former state legislator in the North Carolina House of Representatives where he served as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. He has served on the North Carolina Courts Commission, the N.C. Governor's Crime Commission and the Joint Legislative Commission on Seafood and Aquaculture. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He graduated from East Carolina University and Wake Forest University School of Law. He also served for seven years on the Board of Trustees of Beaufort Regional Health Systems which operates Beaufort County Medical Center amongst other healthcare businesses. He served as Chairman of that hospital Board for over three years. He is a federally designated Debt Relief Agent helping people obtain relief from their debt problems and to protect property through the U.S. Code and State and Federal consumer protection and bankruptcy laws.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

There were very few lawyers in Attorney Edwin Hardy's geographical area that concentrated in debt defense, bankruptcy and debt settlement 23 years ago when he began practicing law here. Many bill collectors were flagrantly violating the law and still do. Debt and judgments can financially destroy a person for many, many years if not properly defended. Most debtors truly do not owe all of the amount for which creditors file lawsuits against them. Mr. Hardy concentrates in this area to bring fairness and legality to the debt collection process. Many people who have had lawsuits filed against them for debt are actually victims of fraud and unfair trade practices. As victims, they can file lawsuits against those creditors that have filed suit against them. This is Mr. Hardy's favorite area of practice- keeping creditors and bill collectors honest.
