Services Offered For Fixed Fees?

Our rates are within a given range, depending on the type of case being filed. Currently, we offer a "flat rate" for an uncontested bankruptcy. We also offer payment plans for clients who cannot afford to pay in full. We always strive to offer a reasonable fee, with quality service.

$250 per hour for services beyond the typical services offered in an "uncontested bankruptcy."

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

My current primary area of practice allows me to help individuals and families get a "fresh start" to their financial life. At a time when governments are bailing out banks to the tune of billions of dollars, it is clear that individuals often need financial relief as well.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

In order to help clients understand the terminology and frame-work of a bankruptcy case, I have extensive materials available for free on my website, including a frequently asked questions page, as well as videos answering commonly asked questions.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I appreciate clients being well-prepared and organized. The bankruptcy process depends on clients providing accurate information concerning their financial status and circumstances.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I normally do not recommend clients representing themselves, given the complexity of issues involved.

I have owned and operated my own law firm since 1985.

I am a voracious student of government and politics. I ran for Attorney General of Iowa in 2002 on a third party ticket. I enjoy developing real estate, including residential apartments and commercial office space. I am currently developing a commercial building for a gourmet health food deli.

I love what I do and that it helps people resolve the financial strain they are suffering. Having been raised in a working class family on a small farm in Nebraska, I easily identify with the people and families that come to my office. I purposefully maintain a casual demeanor and an upbeat outlook on life.

Personal interests:

I enjoy riding my motorcycle, camping, fishing and traveling to new places.
