Example Cases
I represented a local landowner against ExxonMobil Corporation, Wormald America's and Helena Chemical Company regarding chemical contamination of his property. After a four year fight with multiple opposing lawyers, I was able to obtain a favorable outcome for my client. I am quite proud of this case because my client was able to take on one of the world's largest corporations and was successful doing so.

Firm Focus and History
The primary focus of The Knapp Law Firm is our clients. When a potential client is seeking the assistance of an attorney, they are often confused, scared and unsure of what their rights may be. At Knapp Law Firm, we take the time listen to our clients, to get to know them and to truly understand their unique situation. Once we agree to represent a client, we put all of our resources into obtaining the best possible result for that client. Throughout our representation of our clients, we make sure to keep them informed of the progress in their case and are available to speak with them as the need arises. Our clients are the focus at Knapp Law Firm.
Previous Employment Summary
Knapp Law Firm was established in 2006 in Helena, Arkansas with a commitment to providing the best possible representation to our clients. In 2011, Knapp Law Firm expanded its operations by joining with Scriber Law Firm of Jonesboro, Arkansas and by expandind operations into Raleigh, North Carolina.
Prior to establishing Knapp Law Firm, I work for another litigation law firm, first as a clerk and then as a practicing attorney. During my time there, I began actually trying cases immediately. The opportunity to begin actually trying cases so early in my career has allowed me to gain more trial experience than most lawyers achieve over the entire career.
Activities and Awards
Phillips County Bar Association Treasurer (2006-Present)
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I believe clients should take advantage of the vast internet resources available today to educate themselves on issues that affect them and their case. The more a client understands about their situation, the more comfortable they are with the legal process. Knapp Law Firm's philosophy is to understand our clients and the more our clients understand the legal process and the issues that affect them, the more beneficial it is to the client and to our representation of them.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am always willing to listen to my clients and to review materials they prepare. That is not to say that everything that a client prepares will be useful, but I will review documents prepared by a client and discuss the benefits or lack thereof of those documents.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I will not coach a client to represent themselves. I personally believe that I would be doing a disservice to someone by advising them to represent themselves. Even if that person is an attorney, i would not recommend self-representation. One of the most important things that an attorney provides a client is the attorney's objectivity and objectivity is impossible if the client and the lawyer are one in the same.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I am from a small town and when I was growing up I saw a lot of people at the mercy of others and I never liked to see people taken advantage of or mistreated. I realized that one way that I could help prevent that was to become a lawyer and to be there to help when someone needed it.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I do not come from a family of lawyers and I worked several different jobs before I became a lawyer. Some of those jobs included working on a farm, pumping gas, changing oil and fixing flats. Those jobs gave me the opportunity to get to know people from all walks of life. By getting to know people from varied backrounds, I am able to understand the issues they face not only from an attorney's prospective but from their prospective. That experience, combined with my legal education and experiences in the courtroom allow me to provide my clients with representation that not many other lawyers can.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I have seen the personal and financial devastation that often happens to a person when they are injured. It is often more than people can bear on their own and I like being in the position to actually help someone when they need it.
What do you like best about your career?
The most rewarding part of my career is when someone's legal battle is over, their lives are turning around for the better and I know that I had a part in helping that to happen.

If I had to characterize my style, I would say that I am adaptable in that I am friendly and cordial when needed but can be as tenacious as necessary, depending on what is needed to best serve my clients' interests.
