The Todd Law Firm Personal Injury and Family Law matters in Austin and throughout Texas.
Personal Injury Law

As children we all learned the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". As adults, the Golden Rule still applies. Texas law requires us to be careful not to harm others. When people forget this, the legal term is "negligence". When a person or company is negligent, people get hurt. Texas law allows you to recover damages from those who negligently harm you. This compensation allows you to receive the medical treatment and rehabilitation you need to return to normal life, your economic loss, the suffering you had to endure and, in some cases, the loss of a loved one. Pursuing your claim can also help prevent the same injury from happening to someone else. At the Todd Law Firm, we are dedicated to pursuing justice for personal injury victims in Austin and across Texas. If you have been injured by someone else's negligence, contact us today for a free case evaluation. Let us show you how to avoid common mistakes, protect your rights, and get the best possible outcome for your case.

* We donate 10% of the attorney fee on child injury cases to Dell children's Medical Center

Family Law

Family can be the greatest joy in life. It can also be the source of greatest pain. Loving parents may disagree on what is best for their child. Husbands and wives may decide they cannot stay married. Pursuing a legal case for child custody or divorce may be necessary to protect your child as well as your property rights. At the Todd Law Firm, we are dedicated to pursuing justice in child custody and divorce cases in Austin and across Texas. If you are facing a custody, divorce or other family law matter, contact us today to schedule a consultation. Let us show you how to avoid common mistakes, protect your family and resolve your case so you can move on with your life.

David Todd

My name is David Todd and I've been representing Texans in personal injury law and family law matters since 1989. I was born in Dallas, where I was active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning my Eagle Scout rank. I graduated from St. Mark's school of Texas in 1982. I attended the University of Texas at Austin for my undergraduate studies, and I earned a BA degree in Honors Liberal Arts (the "Plan II" program) with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1986. I received my JD from the University of Texas School of Law in 1989, where I served on The Review of Litigation. I founded my law firm in 1989 and I have practiced law in Austin, Texas ever since. I am a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, and I am a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, as well as the Family Law Section of the Austin Bar Association.

My focus is representing individuals injured by the negligence of others, as well as those facing divorce and other family law issues, such as child custody, child support, asset division, and modification or enforcement of existing family court orders. Each case receives personal, attorney attention (not just paralegal work) and we take pride in making sure the client stays informed about and involved with their case every step of the way. By focusing on the few cases that meet our standards for acceptance, we are able to devote the time and effort needed to obtain the best possible results.

After years of litigating divorce and injury cases, I wrote two books, The Texas Personal Injury Guide and The Texas Divorce and Family Law Guide, to help Texans learn how to avoid common mistakes and protect their rights so they can resolve their case and get on with their lives.

As part of our commitment to helping injured children, we donate 10% of our fee from each child injury case to the Dell Children's Medical Center. We are also a proud supporter of the Austin Center for Child Protection.
