I didn't choose to practice one area of the law over another so much as the areas in which I practice happen to be those areas that the residents of the communities in which I serve are most in need of.
The practice of law is not what it was 10, 20, or 50 years ago. This can be said of many industries and professions. However, the changes in the practice of law are truly unique. Many questions or pursuits still remain squarely within the province and duties of a licensed attorney; but many no longer are. My focus is to provide as much value as possible to my clients. If a certain matter can be accomplished without involving an attorney, I am upfront and honest with my clients as to how they can accomplish a desired pursuit on their own within the many boundaries of the law.
I am willing to review client-prepared documents, as long as all relevant background information is supplied for me to render competent legal advice.
I will not coach clients in the unauthorized practice of the law.
I hold great pride in my previous employment experiences, such as farming and working on a factory line. They have provided me a foundation to counsel and relate to my clients in a manner that I would not otherwise be able to accomplish.
My experiences of being raised and working on my parent's farm in Audubon County gives me a truly unique perspective and additional understanding of the situations and dealings of my clients involved in the agriculture industry. My other life and work experiences have rarely occurred within a small office cubicle, but rather a majority of my experiences have involved working alongside many people with different backgrounds and worldviews as my own. Because of that exposure, I possess a greater level of empathy towards the husband or wife going through a troubled marriage, or a single mother or father that is in need of honest and caring legal advice.
Giving honest, practical advice to my clients. In a litigation setting, I do not strive to impress my clients through unnecessary showmanship or by needlessly berating the other party. My aim is to convey a clear and concise statement of the facts and to persuasively argue my client's case to the one person that matters the most in the courtroom--the Judge.Personal interests:
Spending time with my wife and three children, reading, working on my yard and in my garden.
