Example Cases
In 2006 we represented a widow whose husband's life insurance claim was denied. The widow had few resources and needed this money. We handled her case quickly and ultimately forced the insurance company to pay $200,000 on a $250,000 policy.
In 2007 we handled a lead paint case for a woman who had just turned 18. The insurance company refused to discuss her poisoning which took place when she was a child because her mother had signed a release for her claim in exchange for $300 when our client was only 2 years old. We had the court void the release and settled the claim for $685,000.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
An informed client is our best client. There are many lawyers out there. A client who has done their homework comes to the best. On injury cases where the fees are contingent, you should have the best on your side. Clients who research attorneys and their success come to us.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Small.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I grew frustrated of seeing large companies and insurance companies deliberately exploiting and taking advantage of consumers. The average phone or credit card bill routinely contains billing errors in favor of the company. Insurance companies regularly offer less than full or fair value for a claim. Our firm levels the playing field and fights for the little guy. We stand up for victims and bring large companies to their knees.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
As a homeowner, husband, father, and consumer, I am regularly involved in the same day to day challenges of my clients.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
It allows me to help people who may not be able to help themselves.
What do you like best about your career?
Helping people.
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me. I have a wonderful paralegal who is attentive to all of my clients? immediate needs. My secretary has a wealth of knowledge and is sensitive to the needs of my clients.
What are your strengths and style?
I have the ability to very quickly size up a case and indentify the key issues. This saves my clients time, money and often is the key ingredient in a successful case. While being aggressive to opponents, I always maintain compassion and patience with my clients.
Personal Interests:
My personal interests include sports, family, travel, and politics. I speak 3 languages and have visited more than 30 countries.

Fixed-Price Services and Fees
Most of my cases are handled either on a contingency or on a flat fee. 10% discount on fees if mentioning they are a Nolo referral.
Hourly Rates
Flat fees apply to criminal cases and litigation defense. Plaintiff's cases are taken on a contingency, you don't win you don't pay. Based on my experience billing with when I was with large firms, my clients typically save 30% off of most law firm's hourly rates.
Free Initial Consultation?
Initial consultations are always free.
Typical Retainer
My retainer is usually 25% of the flat fee which I quote up front.
Nolo's Licensing Check
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
