I focus on complex cases, and I take on everything, ranging from toxic tort, to securities fraud, to RICO, to civil rights. It's easier to define me by what I won't do

Trying a case to a jury involves a different set of skills than drafting a 100-page legal brief for the court of appeals. Handling complex cases allows me to use both sets of skills, and usually the case is critical to the client. For me, that beats a routine or repetitive law practice.
When my clients know the law that applies to them, they can participate more fully in developing legal strategy, and they make better decisions. I'm all in favor of it. On the other hand, I don't mind educating clients who don't have time for self-education.
I do this all the time.
I often coach clients through contract negotiations, and twice I have coached a client through a multi-million-dollar settlement negotiation. There are times when things go smoother without the lawyers in the room. On the other hand, I would never agree to coach a client in pro se litigation.
My last job was with a large corporate law firm, where I handled some high-dollar matters and bet-the-company type cases. I came there from the other side of the fence
