Baram & Kaiser was established in February, 1988. We celebrated our twentieth anniversary this month.

We specialize in bankruptcy, civil litigation, debtor-creditor problems, real estate and other transactional work. I have represented hundreds or people in the Bankruptcy Courts in the past twenty five years.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Bankruptcy laws were created by our elected representatives to "give the honest debtor a fresh start." It is one of the areas of law where you can actually give people new hope, new lives, and a fresh financial start.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is most important. We are happy to recommend books, websites, and other materials so that our clients can gain knowledge. Educated clients can better help themselves.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am happy to review client-created documents.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am available to assist clients who wish to represent themselves. However, bankruptcy laws have many technical requirements, especially after the changes brought about by the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 2005. I usually suggest that individuals seek the help of a qualified bankruptcy attorney.

David Baram

From 1982 through 1987, I was a partner in the firm of Azzara and Baram. Before I became an attorney in 1982, I was a concert promoter in the New York area. I ran the Calderone Concert Hall, and "My Fathers Place" Nightclub, working with such musicians as Billy Joel, Santana, Kiss, Blue Oyster Cult, Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, Count Basie, Stevie Wonder and many others.

My years of self employment have given me a unique insight into the financial hardships faced by my clients. I knew the pain and reward of meeting deadlines, paying bills, communicating with customers, suppliers, employees and the government long before I began to practice law. I can sympathize with the hardships my clients face, and fashion unique methods of helping to solve their financial problems.

I pride myself on my ability to help clients understand the bankruptcy process.

Personal interests:

I enjoy playing guitar (blues music is my favorite), live music of any kind, and popular culture, all old habits from my years in the music industry.
