Previous Employment Summary
I previously interned at the United States Department of Justice and Honorable Henry E. Needham. Additionally, I worked for several non-profits.

I have previously received from the State Bar of California the Wiley E. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services and a National Leadership Award by a National Congressional Committee. Renee Linares received scholastic merit awards including the Salutatorian Merit Award and several Wiktin Awards.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I encourage my clients to better understand and investigate their legal matters. Often, the best and most practical approach is hiring competent legal representation to inform them of their rights and responsibilities. I strongly discourage hiring paralegal or non-legal document preparers. I make my best efforts to keep my clients informed about the law and the process.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
In the course of my representation, I regularly review documents prepared by my clients and other professionals. However, I do not provide legal advice on documents prepared by document preparation services.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I accept limited scope representations. Unfortunately, many low and middle income clients simply cannot afford to have attorneys represent them throughout the entire legal process. If my client's best alternative is self-representation, I make my best efforts to adequately prepare them to move forward.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
Foolishly, I decided to be a lawyer to make the world a better place. I continue to practice law to be a positive influence in the lives of my clients and my community.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I have very strong analytical skills and try to empathize with my clients. I make my best efforts to truly listen to my clients needs.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I have worked in real estate since 1995. When I was in law school, I became involved in estate planning and real estate conservation. My practice has organically flowed from my experiences practicing law.
What do you like best about your career?
I appreciate the relationships that I develop with my clients and the insight practicing has given me into human nature. I love working with clients and getting great results to improve their lives. Additionally, I love educating my clients so they understand that law and justice are not just abstract principles.
Tell us about your law firm:
Renee Linares is an associate at our firm. She is thoughtful, and I am grateful for her insight and judgment. Tara Johnson is my office manager and legal secretary. Tara is incredibly organized and brings that organization to our practice. Tara and Renee are simply incredible! We work together to aggressively advocate for our clients.
What are your strengths and style?
Foremost, I listen to my clients' concerns and map out a solid strategy to accomplish their goals. Then, I put together my team and diligently follow through with our plans. My knowledge, experience, and dedication assist me, but what often sets me apart is that I care. My style is compassionate, easy-going and professional.
