What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I believe it is important for clients to educate themselves on legal issues. Clients who are informed about the legal consequences of their decisions tend to make the best decisions.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am willing to review documents prepared by clients.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I am willing to provide a free initial consultation to anyone--even clients who choose to represent themselves. If the client needs assistance beyond what is provided at the initial consultation, but wants to represent himself or herself, I might agree to coach the client in appropriate circumstances, but the client would need to sign a retainer agreement which would specifically exclude any services other than consultative services.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I enjoy challenging and interesting work.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Having struggled with unmanageable debts myself upon graduating from law school, I can appreciate and understand the stress and worry that my clients often experience.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I enjoy assisting my clients in relieving themselves of debts that they can not afford and in getting a fresh start. Bankruptcy is one of the few practice areas where clients receive a tangible benefit and are happier after the case than when the case begins.
What do you like best about your career?
I enjoy analyzing clients' issues and crafting individualized solutions for my clients.
Tell us about your law firm:
My paralegal, Daisy Quinones, is a superstar. She is extremely organized, efficient and responsive. She makes sure that client calls are returned and she assists me greatly in making sure that clients get the results that they expect and deserve. I also use a 24x7 call center to make sure that my clients can speak with a live operator at any time and can reach at any time in the event of an emergency.
What are your strengths and style?
I am very good at researching and analyzing legal issues and in exercising judgment regarding issues facing my clients. As a result, my clients tend to get the results that they are expecting in their cases.
Personal Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
