What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I happily represent clients who have educated themselves beforehand or during the process. I am not afraid to answer questions and always strive to give good, practical advice in plain English.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will review documents prepared by clients.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I will occasionally coach clients that want to represent themselves pro se, as long as they understand the potential problems associated with this approach.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I became interested in becoming an attorney after participating (and winning) a mock trial my junior year of high school. Throughout college I was interested in the role that law plays in society, the concept of justice, and the way that changes in the law and public policy can improve lives on a large scale. Plus, I am a huge fan of the American Revolutionary time period and the political philosophy of that era. It still amazes me that using a basis of law and freedom combined; the most prosperous nation in the world was formed from scratch.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have worked in many different legal environments, and I have also started multiple businesses. These experiences help me to give practical advice to my clients.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I like the proactive element of it and I think it is interesting.

What do you like best about your career?

I like helping families and individuals accomplish their goals. I enjoy interacting with clients. I enjoy working through processes and systems.

Tell us about your law firm:

Peterson Law Group has four attorneys currently (and are always looking to expand). There is a full support staff that is also able to assist clients.

What are your strengths and style?

I am strategic and practical.

Personal Interests:

Most of my free time is devoted to activities with my wife and kids. I enjoy playing sports, including softball, soccer and basketball. We are active in our church. I also serve on numerous city boards and commissions as well as non-profits. I enjoy entrepreneurial activities.
