Continuing Education
Because of my experience, I speak to area attorney groups and local law enforcement groups about my areas of practice. The legal field is constantly changing; attorneys need to stay abreast of recent changes in the law. In addition to speaking at seminars, I frequently attend seminars on the topics of personal injury and criminal defense. Reading recently published case decisions also keeps me up to date on the current legal environment.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
In most cases I believe clients need legal representation.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Any document you intend to introduce in court should be reviewed by a lawyer.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
No.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I became a lawyer to help people. When a person calls me for representation in an injury case, they are calling to help get answers and resolution for a traumatic event. No lawyer can guarantee results, but I can guarantee that my staff and I will put 100% of our legal skills to work for you. My wife, Ellen handles the family law area and makes sure people get a fresh start in the best way possible.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I have been practicing law for over 30 years. Having a family (a wife and two children) enables me to empathize with my client's situations, whether it be losing a family member or struggling with an injury.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I wanted to help people. Specifically, I want to protect individuals from oppression against the State and big business.
What do you like best about your career?
The thing I like most about my career is satisfying my clients.
Tell us about your law firm:
My paralegal has been with me for thirty years and continues to receive praise from every one of my clients. The entire support staff is exceptional. We have more paralegals and secretaries (nine) than we do attorneys (six). My wife, Ellen handles the family law area and makes sure people get a fresh start in the best way possible.
What are your strengths and style?
I am a trial lawyer. I have a good working relationship with other attorneys and am often able to settle a case without putting my client through the experience of a trial. However, when a good settlement cannot be reached for my client, I use my trial skills and network of national experts to try each case.
Personal Interests:
When I am not at my office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Ellen, and our two children. Even when I'm away from the office, I spend most of my time thinking about my clients and case strategies. I like to watch local sports teams and I enjoy reading about new developments in the law.
