What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Clients educating themselves on legal issues is a critical part of the process. My most successful cases have been the ones in which the clients wanted to be educated and active in all aspects of their case. This allows more of a joint venture or partnership to form between the lawyer and the client.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I will always review documents that clients have prepared, and actually encourage them to do this.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I am absolutely open to coaching clients. It's important to help them understand their particular case and whether or not it's in their best interest to represent themselves.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

My life experiences, and hot Texas summers spent digging ditches, led me to become a lawyer. Not only am I able to work inside, but becoming a lawyer allowed me to help others, which is something I’m very passionate about.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My family helped me to understand the importance of compassion and was very customer service-oriented. This background enforced the desire to be in a position in which I would be able to help others and provide that compassion they so desperately need.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

The areas I practice allow me to give my clients a voice. I represent people - not big business - and would not have it any other way.

What do you like best about your career?

My career involves helping people. The most rewarding part is watching the transition my clients go through during the process and giving them the ability to walk out with a smile at the end of the day.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have the opportunity to work directly with most, if not all, of the clients at The Voss Law Firm. In addition to a wonderful team of paralegals who are attentive to clients' needs, our secretaries also have a wealth of knowledge and sensitivity.

What are your strengths and style?

It's all in the details. I am super aggressive, pay very close attention to details and more than anything understand the importance of being prepared. My favorite quote from Abraham Lincoln says, "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."

Personal Interests:

I am an outdoorsman at heart and enjoy anything involving the outdoors. I am also an avid blue water fisherman and certified scuba diver.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
