I founded the Awasthi Law Corporation (ALC) in early 2010 in order to provide clients with high quality personalized service at a low cost. I was turned off by the 'churn and burn' approach to representation that I saw taken by many law firms, where legal strategy was determined in part by what would lead to the most billable hours. I wanted to practice law in a different way, where the goal would be to create value for the client - and fees would be based on how much my work benefited the client.
The ALC practices in the areas of business law, debt relief, trademarks and real estate.
I am currently advising a large creditor in a multimillion dollar Chapter 9 Bankruptcy case, In re Sierra Kings Health Care District.

I chose business law because there is a lot of room for creative thinking in solving the problems of clients. Debt relief interested me because of the opportunity it provides to make a major difference in the life of the client. Someone can come in totally demoralized because he or she is overwhelmed by debt - and I can eliminate most of it in a matter of months. Helping someone get a new lease on life like that is incredibly satisfying.
I encourage clients to learn a little bit about their legal issue because that gives them an idea of what information to have ready before they contact a lawyer.
I am willing to review documents prepared by clients.
I am willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves in situations where it is feasible. These include small claims and bankruptcy cases.
I have worked at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and Tulare County District Attorney's Office. I have also worked for larger Sacramento debt relief law firms.
My economics background has given me a deep understanding of the rationale behind many of the laws in this country - more than law school alone provides. That in turn enables me to craft effective arguments to support the positions of my clients. Also my experience as an entrepreneur allows me to anticipate many of the obstacles my business clients will face so that I can find a clear legal path for them to take.
I handle each client's case as if I were in his shoes - with diligence, focus, and a sense of urgency. My approach to legal analysis emphasizes thorough research, attention to detail, and creative problem solving. Most importantly, I always keep in mind the cost and benefit of different options to the client over both the short and long term.
Personal interests:Hiking, running and tennis. I also enjoy reading, music, and traveling.
