The Law Office of Aubrey Hone has two primary focus areas: 1) resolving tax disputes, and 2) estate planning. I help my clients find peace of mind and financial security through creative solutions to their tax disputes. I find solutions that are both feasible and practical given their specific circumstances and goals. I also help my clients find peace of mind through proper estate planning designed to protect their families and loved ones while avoiding probate and transfer taxes wherever possible.
I started my law practice in 2010 because I am passionate about helping my clients find peace of mind.
Tax Disputes:
I represent clients in federal and state tax matters including collections, audits, appeals, and court litigation.
I assist clients in obtaining:
• installment agreements or payment plans
• approval of an offer in compromise
• release of a tax lien
• abatement of penalties
I also represent clients with unique tax issues, such as disputes over personal liability with regard to trust fund taxes (payroll taxes), undisclosed offshore accounts, employee classification disputes, and criminal tax matters.
Estate Planning:
For an estate plan, I forward prospective clients an estate planning questionnaire and schedule an initial consultation. At the initial consultation we review the questionnaire and discuss the client's needs and goals. Once I have been retained, we have a design meeting to map out the actual estate plan according to the client's needs and desires. I then draft the estate plan documents and meet with the client to review them. After that meeting, any necessary changes are made and the documents are signed and formalized. I will then process and compile the signed documents and deliver an estate planning portfolio to the client. Please note that each client is unique and therefore each estate plan is slightly different based on the specific needs of each client.

I offer a free 30 minute no-obligation initial consultation.
Estate plans are typically done on a flat fee basis. For an individual, my typical fees range from $1,500 to $4,000 and for couples from $2,200 to $8,000. However, each client's circumstances are unique and the fee structure is adjusted accordingly based on the particular needs of each client. As a result, I require that a client complete an estate plan questionnaire before quoting a fee for an estate plan. New clients who mention Nolo will be given a fifteen percent discount off my regular hourly rate.

Tax law is always changing and I am a person that is constantly seeking to learn new things. Tax is an area of law that I knew would keep me interested over the course of my career, and the complexity of the tax code is a challenge that I enjoy tackling every day.
Personally, I always educate myself prior to making any important decision, and appreciate when clients do the same.
I am happy to review documents prepared by clients.
I am willing to coach clients that want to represent themselves if appropriate. This is a determination that would be made on a case-by-case basis.
Prior to founding my own law firm, I was a Senior Associate at Ernst & Young in the Transaction Tax group in San Francisco, California. Prior to that, I was working as an Associate for the Law Office of Richard Carpenter, a Certified Specialist in Tax Law in San Diego, California. Before law school, I worked as an Accountant for Carpenter Stringham Architects in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I have worked in finance, accounting, or tax since graduating from high school. I have an accounting degree, taxation degree, and law degree. I have worked to ensure that I have both the education and real life experience to be a well-rounded and effective professional.
I am honest and hardworking. I am passionate about what I do and zealously advocate for my clients. I listen to my clients' concerns and map out solid strategies to achieve their goals. My knowledge, experience, and dedication assist me, but what really sets me apart is my compassion for others.
Personal interests:I enjoy running, reading mystery novels, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
