Modification: 1) A change in an existing court order or judgment, commonly sought in family law cases where a spouse paying support asks for a modificaiton of the amount based on a change in circumstances since the original order was made. 2) A physical change to a legally disabled tenant's living space, made because the alteration is necessary for the tenant to live safely and comfortably on the premises. Normally, tenants pay for the modifications and can be asked to undo them when they leave.
